Measure & drawings
We verify dimensions on site, check framing and plumbing, and prepare layout drawings for your sign-off.
APLI permits & condo sign-off
If drains move, we coordinate a City of Barrie APLI permit. In a condo, management approves first.
Protected 7-stage build
Demolition, rough plumbing, ESA electrical, membrane waterproofing, tile setting, fixtures and custom glass.
Handover & 1-year visit
We test every drain and valve with you at completion and return in year one for minor settling touch-ups.
1. Itemized written quote from your photos or video
Getting a real price for your Barrie bathroom remodel does not start with a high-pressure kitchen-table pitch. Use our online quote form to send up to five photos or short video clips of your bathroom, or call us at (705) 300-5400 to talk through the room.
The most useful shots capture the bathroom from the hallway door, the inside of the tub or shower, the floor, the ceiling fan and lighting, and the pipes inside the vanity cabinet. Tell us what you want to change and which tier on our Barrie bathroom renovation cost page fits your target budget.
Our Barrie estimator sends back an itemized written quote that lists installation labour separately from finish materials. Because our packages and trade rates are standardized, our photo quote normally lands very close to the final contract figure. Any detail that requires an in-person check—like floor joist orientation beneath a curbless shower pan or plywood condition around a toilet flange—is flagged clearly in your quote.
2. On-site verification and layout drawings
Once you review the written numbers and want to proceed, we book a focused in-home visit to take laser measurements, inspect the plumbing stack and subfloor stiffness, check exhaust fan routing to the exterior, and confirm the final written estimate for your contract.
Prior to booking a start date, our team drafts dimensioned layout drawings (along with a 3D view where helpful) for your sign-off. Together we confirm the vanity width, hallway and shower door swing, recessed niche height, bench depth, tile layout centrelines and drain location. Shifting a recessed niche or drain centreline on a drawing takes a couple of minutes, whereas changing it once porcelain is mortared costs extra time and material.
3. City of Barrie APLI permits and condo board sign-off
When your renovation replaces a tub, shower, toilet and vanity in their existing spots without altering the piping, the City of Barrie does not require a municipal building permit. When the plan installs, replaces or alters water or drain lines, modifies load-bearing framing, or creates a basement bathroom or Additional Residential Unit (ARU), a building permit is required through the City of Barrie’s online APLI portal (eservices.barrie.ca/apli), and we build the submission and municipal rough-in inspection right into the timeline. Read our full article on Barrie bathroom renovation permits.
If your bathroom is in a waterfront condominium tower along Kempenfelt Bay, Dunlop Street or Simcoe Street—or a low-rise building near Little Lake—property management must approve the alteration package before work starts. Our team supplies our current WSIB clearance certificate, commercial liability insurance naming the condo corporation, and written work scope, and books the padded service elevator. Details are on our small and condo bathrooms page.
4. Seven-stage construction sequence on site
Every Barrie bathroom remodel follows the same seven construction steps so no hidden layer behind the porcelain is rushed:
- Floor protection, dust containment and demolition. We lay protective runners from your entrance to the work zone, set up dust barriers, strip the old fixtures and tile back to the studs, and haul debris away promptly.
- Rough plumbing and ESA-inspected electrical. New supply lines, relocated ABS drains, a new pressure-balanced or thermostatic shower valve, GFCI outlets, wet-rated pot lights, heated-floor cables and an insulated exhaust fan ducted outdoors.
- Framing, subfloor levelling and solid blocking. Framing for niches, benches and partition walls, checking floor deflection, and bolting 2x8 or 2x10 wood blocking between studs wherever grab bars, towel bars or heavy glass hinges will mount.
- Continuous membrane waterproofing. Waterproof backer board, bonded sheet membrane and sealed corner and pipe collars across the full shower walls and sloped pan; visit our walk-in showers page for how this layer prevents leaks.
- Tile layout and setting. Floor porcelain, shower walls, niches and feature walls set with levelling clips to your approved drawings, then grouted and caulked with flexible 100% silicone at all plane changes.
- Cabinetry, stone and plumbing trim. Installing the vanity cabinet, quartz or stone counter, undermount basins, faucets, one-piece toilet, mirrors, wall sconces and moisture-resistant paint.
- Tempered shower glass measurement and install. After the wall porcelain and curb are grouted, our glazier laser-measures the opening for custom 10 mm frameless glass and installs the panels as the final step.
On site in Barrie, a complete full bathroom renovation normally runs three to five weeks, while a standard alcove tub-to-shower conversion takes roughly one to two weeks.
5. Final walkthrough and first-year service call
Once the glass is in, we walk through the finished bathroom with you, run every faucet, shower head, drain trap and GFCI receptacle, and complete any final touch-ups before we pack up.
Every Barrie renovation includes our written labour warranty along with a no-charge service visit during the first 12 months to fine-tune cabinet hinges or touch up caulking after winter and summer humidity shifts. Common questions
Can I get a line-by-line written price before booking an in-home visit?
Yes. Upload a few photos or a short walkthrough video on our quote page—or talk through your bathroom with us by phone at (705) 300-5400—and we will send back an itemized written quote first. Once the numbers fit your plans, we visit in person to verify measurements and finalize your layout drawings.
Do you prepare bathroom layout drawings and help with finish choices?
Every full remodel includes dimensioned layout drawings (and 3D views when helpful) for your sign-off prior to demolition. We also guide you through practical choices on slip-resistant shower floor tile, niche heights, vanity plumbing clearance and tempered glass door swing.
How do you keep dust and debris out of the rest of the house during construction?
Before demolition begins, we lay protective floor runners from your entry door or garage to the bathroom, hang a dust barrier at the doorway, keep tools organized inside the work zone, vacuum at the end of each day, and haul demolition waste away promptly.
